Smokey Eyes Makeup Tip

Smokey Eyes Makeup Tip

What You Will Need:

  • Eye primer (definitely not mandatory, but a great touch for a lasting look)
  • Eye Shadow: A few, at least 2 shades. Dark and Light.
  • Eyeliner: A dark rich brown or black
  • Mascara: Don't buy the cheap stuff!

The trend of smokey eyes does not seem to be going anywhere anytime soon. This is a look that has been around for what seems to be since the beginning of makeup’s time and it is one of the most flattering ways to emphasize the shape and color of ones eyes.

Blending your makeup properly is really the key to this look. You do not want to look cheap or trashy with an intense blue that is not blended appropriately. You want a dark grey and black shade that you can mix and blend flawlessly and further, that will not overpower your face. A light base of taupe or champagne frost can do wonders with a sultry grey or even purple.

Here's How:

  • Star with the lid:
If you want your shadow to stay in place, use an oil free product that will not melt in the creases and look like its been on since the day before
  • Proper Blending:
Do not just throw some shadow on your eyes randomly. Carefully put the base shade, preferably a really light natural tone, and blend with a darker grey, purple or blackish shade with careful overlapping on the crease of the eye lid.
  • Use Eyeliner:
A decent black or brown will definitely do the trick. Make sure to use a good quality eyeliner, because its important that you use decent products on a delicate and sensitive area such as your eyes.
  • Add some Shadow on your bottom Lashes:
A great nighttime look is when you put a little bit of that smoky lid on the bottom lash line as well. It really gives your eyes that finished sultry look and highlights the shape and color of your eyes.
  • Finish with Volumizing Mascara:
A couple coats of volumizing lash mascara will add wonders to your beautiful smoky eyes and overall look. Wait a couple minutes in between the first and second coat of mascara.

Smokey Eyes Makeup Tip:

  • With a deep and dark smoky eye, never wear a heavy lipstick with intense color. A simple nude or clear pink will suffice for this look.
  • Add a bit of bronzer on the cheekbones to add some definition and color to your complexion
  • A dark liquid liner for the top eyelid can add wonders to the smoky eye look. Once you have mastered the smoky eye, experiment with a nice liquid thin line on your upper lid.
  • Finally, if you're doing slightly heavier shading on your lids than usual, tone down your overall look an outfit. A classy white blouse with beautiful pearls or silver will look unbelievable, paired with this smoky eye makeup look!
