How to Give Yourself an At Home Pedicure
As soon as the warmer weather comes, and we start pulling our sandals out of the closet, we start wondering whether we should be booking an appointment at our favourite salon to get a pedicure. Here’s how to do a professional pedicure on your own at home.
You need:
- nail polish remover
- Epsom salts
- Nail clippers
- Nail file
- Cuticle oil
- Cuticle stick
- Exfoliating body lotion
- Base coat
- Nail polish
- Top coat
What to do:
- Remove any old polish on your toes.
- Soak your feet in warm water for 10-15 minutes. You can add Epsom salts to the water if you want – this helps to relax and sooth your feet.
- Cut and file your nails. When you clip your toenails, remember to clip them straight across to prevent ingrown toenails. File your nails only in one direction to prevent your nails from breaking.
- Apply a cuticle oil to your toes to soften your cuticles. Push them back with a cuticle stick.
- Massage your feet and ankles with a rich exfoliating body lotion. Leave your feet for a few minutes to let the lotion soak in.
- Remove all lotion and cuticle oil from your nails.
- Apply a base coat to your toe nails.
- Apply two coats of nail polish, allowing nails to dry completely before adding the second coat.
- Apply top coat.
